What is Menopause?
Menopause is the time in a woman's life when her period stops and it is a normal change in a woman's body as she ages.
A woman has reached menopause when she has not had a period for 12 months in a row (and there are no other causes, such
as pregnancy or illness, for this change).

Menopause is also referred to as the change of life, the change, or the climacteric and more recently is known as "perimenopause",
(literally meaning "around menopause"). Leading up to menopause, a woman’s body slowly makes less and less of the hormones estrogen
and progesterone. This change happens between the ages of 45 and 55 years old with the average age 50-51 years of age. Premature
menopause may occur as a result of surgical or irradiation procedures. In the United States 40 million women are now in menopause
and 50,000 US women reach menopause every day. It is estimated that 60 million women will reach menopause in 10 years and 50% of
all US women by 2015.

Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy
Bio-Identical Hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) with the use of Bio-Identical Hormones, if used properly,
is an effective way to deal with the difficult symptoms of menopause. As a Diplomate with the American Academy of
Anti-Aging Medicine, Dr. Fred Arnold specializes in Bio-Identical Hormone replacement and develops an individualized
treatment plan to restore hormonal balance based on laboratory testing. Dr. Fred Arnold uses a combination of saliva and serum(blood)
tests to determine imbalances in the body. Urine testing may also be used on dependent upon your history. Bio-Identical hormones are
made by a compounding pharmacy and have a structure that is exactly the same as the structure of the hormone naturally secreted by
the body without the negative and dangerous side effects of synthetic hormone replacement used to ease and treat menopause symptoms.
